I love shot no 1 carol...what a beautiful colorful little plant with a great big name!

Thank you, Merry. It is still in the very small nursery pot but I’m going to repot it in a bigger pot. I’ve learned that they will multiply and I want to end up with a pot full of them!

Tillandsia cyanea is in the bromeliad family and is native to the rainforests of Ecuador. It is also know as the Pink Quill plant. I love the colors and the neat growth pattern of this little air plant. It is only a few inches high but it creates a bright spot wherever it is placed. The pink bract last for several months with the blue/purple flowers opening periodically but only lasting a couple of days. The bracts are relatively flat as you can see in the close up shot.

Carol, great looking flower and your photos are fantastic along with the dialogue.

Where did you get them and I see they are in a planter, best way to keep them?

Greg

Thank you, Greg! I got this one at Home Depot. I imagine they only have them when they are in bloom. It is still in the small nursery pot and I put that in the clay pot. I am going to repot in a larger pot. It is my understanding that they multiply and there is a small one starting to grow beside the original. The plant is only about 6 inches tall.

Two of my daughter's very favorite colors. I may have to order one of these for her. Nice captures, all of them.

Thank you, Bob. It kind of an unique plant in both the combination of colors and the unusual form.
