Well Dennis, the same argument can be made about humans, i.e. "If God didn't want us eating humans, he wouldn't have made them out of meat."

Sounds fine to me except for one minor detail you seem to be overlooking. Every single state has codified laws stating is legal. NO state has a law stating it is legal to kill and eat humans. Jeffrey Dahmer can attest to that. So can Albert Fish.

Holy CRAP Dave it wasn’t so much an argument at all, just a hunting joke people in my circles have told for years. Did you really think God purposefully made animals out of meat. Hmmmm, actually He probably did. But nonetheless it was said by me in jest. You want to hunt and eat the meat then you do that. If you don’t I honestly don’t care. Agreed. Veru rarely use sauce. Same with Tartar sauce on fish. I always have the opinion that Tartar sauce was invented by someone who does not like fish.

No, I don't personally take it seriously. That being said; having lived for for too long down here in the Bible belt I can tell you there are people who use that phrase as a pseudo religious argument for all sorts of things, and not in a joking way. Its just one of those phrases that really bothers me.
So, if we both can agree that there is nothing literal to the phrase "If God had intended...." we're good.
