I’ve been using the old version Black rapid strap for some years, currently I have two. One is used on my 1DX 11 with 100-400 plus 1.4 extender. The other is on my 5Div with what ever lens I’m using. I tape around the strap to tripod fitting connector for extra security and never had a problem.

I got sling from Heavy Metal Leather in N.Y., She makes mostly guitar straps but has a couple of nice camera straps with two connection points.

...OP/TECH USA Utility Strap-Sling ...

I used a 'Black Rapid' but changed to 'OP/TECH' a couple of years ago ... while I never had even a hint of a problem I did not completely trust mounting the strap to the tripod socket ... !

I now use the 'OP/TECH Utility Strap-Sling' and sometimes the 'OP/TECH Camera Wrist Strap' ... I have taken the precaution to rig a safety strap from the camera to the sling using a 'Tether Safety Strap' from 'Altura Photo'.

This set-up works for me ...

I also use a BlackRapid shoulder sling. Like others have said, walking around all day was not tiring at all with the camera hanging down. And the screw attachment is absolutely safe. The only thing is that when I use a tripod, i have to take the strap off. But when using a tripod, who needs a shoulder strap...
Oh, BTW, i have a Canon 60D, w/ a 28-300 zoom.
Rich...

If I remember correctly they have an adapter now so you can use a tripod without removing the strap.

Bought the OP/TECH USA Utility Strap-Sling for my D7200.
Pleased with how it fits, how camera easily slides up and down strap for shooting and comfort carry. Mine is NOT the model with steel cable.

My only concern is the single connection point on the grip side of my D7200. Wondering about how secure and safe it will be (connection failure?). Prefer sling to around neck carry.

Any thoughts or better options?

I worry about the same thing, but I've carried several DSLRs with their straps for years. No problems. That point on the camera is very strong. The nylon and stitching on the straps is also very strong. If I had a force gauge, I'd use it to test an OP/TECH to failure, but I'm not going to buy the gauge just for that.

A cheapie -

Over the years I have used three different types of straps besides the one that came with my cameras: Black Rapid attached to an L-plate with a RRS connector; BOS strap; and a Peak Design which I use more than the others.
