Watermelon feast in our front yard.

Watermelon is a real treat for deer. When they smell the watermelons' "they come a running".
Notice that one of them is already a ten pointer. As you can see they are still in velvet. It is "possible" that they could get another point or two in the next month or so (+-).
They are beautiful animals. I was able to get within about 10 feet, or so, to get these shots, as they know that we will not harm them in any way.

Watch out when its rutting season - one of our neighbours went to feed one in their field and got stomped to death

No, you CANNOT get around them during rutting season. We stay away from them during the rut, and they stay away from us also.
Had a friend that was gored to death many, many, years ago as he was feeding a doe. EVERY ONE knows to stay away from bucks during the rut as that is a "no-no". They are, and always be, a wild animal.
