According to a search, the most recent thread on this topic was in 2015. I need to buy a good monitor. I’ve been using an Eizo at work but was laid off from what I thought was a secure job and can’t afford the high price for my own. Any recommendations? Asus seems to have some great reviews. Any steals out there? I have an XRite calibrator.
Thanks!

Hope you find a monitor that works well for you, buddy. Was myself the victim of a “corporate restructuring” layoff after 16+ years, but I left with a small monthly pension for life. So far I’ve collected well over $105k, so maybe I got the last laugh.

Thanks, Ralph.
Sounds like you got a good deal.
I could just retire but my dear wife wants me out of the house....and I agree.

They always say that.

Anyway, Labor Day is just around the corner and every Tom, Dick and Best Buy will have sales on monitors. Personally, I like a 27" wide-narrow format that allows you to have two application windows side by side without Alt-Tabbing yourself into carpal tunnel syndrome.

Benq makes some nice monitors that aren't outrageously expensive. I have the BL2710 & love it. Running currently with a fairly high end graphics card at what they call quad resolution with might be 4K.

I usually have a 2 monitor set-up but would love to go with a wide single. Yes, Labor Day sales will be something to look forward to. Thanks.

You didn't bring a couple of those home when you got laid off?

Tried.... I get to hang on to the previous computer I used from work.
No video editing software on it though.

LG has a wide 29" monitor that lets me put two copies of the same image side-by-side. I do the RAW editing on one and leave the other as a JPEG. The JPEG gives me a constant reference to compare multiple changes against. Another thing I like about it is that the screen in a mat finish rather than shiny ... no annoying reflections that distort the color corrections.

Thanks, which model are you using?

Goofy, I have this one bookmarked and thought it to be the one I might get as my next one - as it had been recommended from somewhere - I cannot remember exactly where tho - https://www.amazon.com/Dell-SE2717HX-RVJXC-Full-Monitor/dp/B01LXTK4T6

It is model 29UMS7-P. It is at least two years old, so the model designation may have changed if they upgraded it. These are often on sale at Best Buy -- I got a great open-box price.

...I went through the agonizing process of reading, re-reading about, and researching monitors last year and ended up with 3 Ben-Q 27's...all with 100% RGB color and one with 100% Adobe Color. I use two of them on my primary editing machine and one on a mac. Price was definitely a factor, so I chose the brand I thought would give me the most bang for the buck. These are great monitors...definitely the best in my house. Heh...

...yes, that's the one with Adobe Color gamut. The others are GW2765's...all are performing with greatness.
