two dragon flies and a green heron

Yesterday at the pond life was very active when the sun came out after the extremely heavy rain we've had this week. Instead of staying among the foliage as it usually does, the resident green heron really took the spot light out on bare branches as it watched for dragon flies to eat. And the dragon flies were out in glorious colors.

An excellent set. Your dragons are Common Green Darners (Anax junius) in tandem and ovipositing. Well done.
