Anyone have any info or opinions regarding this release?
Will the old present Nikon lenses be workable in full auto mode? or?
Are there any 'sneak preview'/'reviews----?

We had all the information earlier but it was taken down because we were not authorized to release it.

But you might still find some with an extensive Google or Bing search.

August 23rd is the official release date, but everything will be leaked by then, NDA or no NDA. Remember the rumor mill surrounding the released of the D850? Same nonsense.

Yes I have an opinion and some questions which are food for discussion.

Nikon said a lot about “Nikon’s tradition for high quality” in that release. I expect that Nikon is capable of creating a high quality mirrorless imaging product line. But Canikon are way behind their competitors on mirrorless tech, and traditionally they have not recognized that “modern” features such a WiF, access to social media, and gps are in demand by high end users as well as the masses. Because they are competitive advantages. And other features such as EVF live view exposure, are important to pros as well. Same reason. Canikon’s competitors understand these things. Are Canikon capable of seeing that? Or are they already victims of corporate ossification? And here is my opinion: Canikon has ceded significant market share to competitors. Regardless of the outcome of their new product developments, they will not be dominant forces in the mirrorless market of the future, as they were in the SLR and D-SLR markets of the past.

Of coarse they have the advantage of buying some of the competition products and really studying them as they go about doing it themselves. Its always easier to duplicate what has already been done as compared to blazing a trail where nobody has ever done it.

Of course they can, but will they do that? They have not done that to date. And even if they do I still stand by my opinion that they will not regain the dominance they enjoyed in the past. Canikon’s competitors are not going to stand still and let them take marke share back.

But it’s all going to be good for us consumers! Viva la competiton!

I think we may all be surprised by the number of people who have not gone mirrorless because they are waiting for Nikon or Canon to come out with their full frame versions.

But if not for all those so called fools we'd still be shooting with our Brownie box cameras.

To expand on your "Brownie box camera" point. Last year my daughter was married. My wife put three disposable cameras on each table(30 cameras) She had a box where you would drop off the cameras after using them. The pictures from the wedding the photographer had taken were great. However, the best pictures were taken by guests with those cameras. Out of the 30 cameras, we got 27 back.

I've seen that done with similar results. I believe people are just more relaxed and natural when a friend/relative is taking their picture. When the pro is spotted pointing his camera to get the candid shot most people react unintentionally.

Don't you think that Canon has learned a lot via the release of their M Series mirrorless cameras? And furthermore, don't you think that they will use this information to transition to FF when it's in their best interest. IMHO, too many people have thrown Canon under the bus and have discounted their ability to survive. Remember the rumors regarding Nikon's demise that was making the rounds on the internet about 2 years ago? Where are those rumors today? Don't count Canon out. By the way, I own Canon, Nikon, Oly and Panasonic. I have no built-in bias.

They are right where the were 2 years ago. Once on the internet they are there to stay.

But seriously it was just this past January when Fujio Mitarai admitted that Canon was lagging behind in innovation. "Mitarai argued that “it’s time to think outside the camera box.”

Once the CEO of any company recognizes the problems they tend to get fixed, but it takes a little time.

Canon? I said Canikon = Canon + Nikon. Both are seriously behind in the mirrorless/modern camera market and both have ceded significant market share to competitors. Will Canikon ever regain their dominance of the mirrorless market as in the the SLS, D-SLR market? I doubt it. Because they are significantly behind in joining the race, and their competitors are not standing still and letting them run past.
