Several features that were in Picasa that we would like to have in another software for the PC.
1. Simple labels that will show on the photo in a slideshow. In Picasa, one could click on the bottom of the photo and type. The label went on the photo and you could put the same label on the next photo with control/v. Great for labeling after a trip and very fast.
2. Simple 1 click button to upload photos.
3. Automatic use of windows file tree.
4. Those labels show in the same way on Google Photos...can you see the thousands of labels we have already applied in any software reading the Picasa generated files?
If Google would sell that software, I would bet there would be a lot of buyers judging from how often it is referenced in this forum.
Picasa is STILL perfectly usable.
Well yes, but... in March, Google eliminated the 1 step email and the 1 step upload to Google Photos. To me the end is near and all those Picasa albums, labels and other things will disappear. I would like to prepare. Love to hear the story of your “twowindsbear”
Jonsailhob,
Surely you are not implying that all the picture files currently in our Picasa programs will be lost eventually. The program will no longer be available to use for others, but for the folks who already have it there may be some limitations but loss of images should not be one of them.

I have lost a lot of photographs since I started using Picassa. No where to be found. Just bought luminar but have not used yet and always make sure everything is backed up. I never had that problem with any other editing program and never heard of anyone else having the same problem. Weird.

There are a variety of ways to accomplish all that free on a PC, you just need to become a little more PC literate. Why do you think it needs to be a Google solution? And while you might be willing to pay for those extremely basic options it is highly unlikely too many other people would.

Picasa does not do anything with your photographs. It does not move them or delete them unless you tell it to. There are a variety of reasons why your photographs make have disappeared and they were all related to user error or user confusion.
How do you gat rid of the "WHITE SCREEN" virus that covers Picasa?
