"Chip mill" Working in the lumber industry. The area is full of forests for harvesting for wood related products. It still is a viable industry per quick google on the term. I remember seeing a 40 ton switcher at the pulp mill down in Brunswick, GA., paper making plant.

I came across the one in the photo while I was looking for an antique store.

Thanks. They do become rarer as time goes by.

I marvel at the volunteers who put in time and energy to keep them going.

There are a few up here in WA state that worked the big forests years ago.
