Shoot in Aperture priority mode and set at a high aperture setting (small opening for the greatest depth of field), keep your ISO as low as possible, and shoot in RAW if you can, shoot in bursts, use a tripod. That's all I have.

Day before 4th of July, Porters ran an article about Fireworks. It suggested to go to aperture and set it on 4 seconds and the focus on Infinity. Use a tripod. When you hear the initial bang, click the shutter. This year, I got more good fireworks than ever before. If you are far away, click shutter when you see the projectile headed up. Wish you luck!

1. Use a tripod
2. Remote or wired shutter release
3. Focus to infinity (Use far away subject for reference)
4. Set shutter to bulb
5. ISO 100
6. Apture F-11
7. Wait for mortor launch and open shutter.
8. Wait for burst to complete and close shutter.
9. Take a couple test shots and view and adjust apture

That's how I got these.
