Wedding Surprise ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

A young couple got married and went away on their honeymoon. After two weeks they came back and finally put away all of the presents they received from friends and family.Since this was a new home, the process took some time.A week later, they received two tickets in the mail for a popular show where tickets were impossible to get. They were very excited and warmed by the gesture of the person who sent this. Inside the envelope, however, was only a small piece of paper with a single line, "Guess who sent them."

The pair had much fun trying to identify the donor but failed in the effort. They went to the theater and had a wonderful time. On their return home late at night, still trying to guess the identity of the unknown host, they found the house stripped of every article of value. And on the bare table in the dining room was a piece of paper on which was written in the same hand as the enclosure with the tickets: "Now you know!"

It sounds like someone who has done that before and/or
is known by a member of the wedding party to have such
details. Maybe the tickets were for reserved seats and the
purchaser's info can be traced. Anyway, I hope the couple
can get their stuff back, and the person(s) responsible get
caught. Someone should take him/them behind the barn
and teach 'em a lesson or two.

Just so the thief didn't get their camera gear....

Good urban legend - been around longer than I have -

Hereโ€™s a 1949 example of the legend:

A young married couple who had just settled down in their new home got a pleasant surprise in their mail one morning โ€” a couple of tickets to one of the best shows in town. But the donor had omitted to send his name, and for the rest of the day the question was: โ€œWonder who it was?โ€
They enjoyed the show; but when they reached home, they found that all their wedding presents had been taken. A note from the burglar said: โ€œNow you know.โ€

A variation even makes showbiz:
This legend turns up in the 1997 film Shooting Fish. It also appears in an episode of the television sitcom The Nanny (โ€œFran Gets Mugged,โ€ original air date 22 May 1995): Franโ€™s mugger offers theater tickets as his way of apologizing for taking her purse; after seeing the play, Fran and Maxwell return to a burglarized house and a tied-up butler.

If this is a true story (probably not - just a fable) it makes no sense. Why wouldn't the thief take the items while the couple was on their honeymoon rather than waiting until they returned, opened and distributed the items all over the house and saved the cost of the two tickets.

I have heard stories before of people putting the wrong date in the paper for funerals or weddings because they knew that this would be one time that no one would be home.
