A while back I took a picture of a LumberJack carved into a tree with an awful lot of background taking away from the shot. I asked a friend of mine; Emmett to assist me in doctoring the photo by removing the background as I do not have the tools to do it myself. Thanks to Emmett I feel he has done a wonderful job. What do you think?
Thank you Emmett!!!

I like both. I think I would have gone with a blue background in the first one.

Thank you Blueduck...I also have one in green thanks to Emmett's help. Again I guess a picture such as the Lumber Jack can be almost any color that one desires it all depends. I am glad that I was able to find such a shot while driving down a main street in upper Wisc.

I'll suggest this 'fix' for your shot.

Flip your camera sideways - so it is 'portrait' format for a vertical scene. . . and move a bit closer to remove the pavement from the front & the 'distractions' from the sides.

Any more to post?

Sorry twowindsbear...unable to move in any closer due to highway traffic on US12 and the shot was taken vertically.

Yes I was lucky to get these few shots as rte 12 is a busy route with lots of traffic. Most of the shots were taken from accross the highway with telescope mode.

Since ya shot it vertically, why is it posted horizontally?

Just went back and took a look at this. Next time, turn your camera 90 degrees and shoot in portrait mode. You're wasting a lot of dead space shooting in landscape, since you're really only interested in the lumberjack. Reduces the amount of cropping, and with your camera, you don't want to throw away a lot of pixels.
