A few recent stacks

After an extended trip, it takes me about a week to catch up...water the greenhouses, unpack and do the laundry, process the trip images, get groceries, harass the kids etc. It doesn't seem that everything is back to my daily routine, until I start taking and processing stacked images again. Ah...back at home. Here are a few recent stacks between 1x and 1.66x. So far, I have been VERY pleased with the Minolta Dimage 5400 lens.

Good job, it is always nice to see macros of plant parts, I like to do flower parts, stamens and the like.

Thank you Brenda. Do you also raise plants or love gardening? Tending my plants is a passion. For me, macro is an exploration and revelation of the beautiful details that dance just beyond my ability to fully see. I would love to see some of your plant macros.

Those are great images, your Dimage 5400 is certainly showing it's capability!!

How far do you need to extend the Dimage 5400 for 1X and 1.66X?

Best,

Mike, a 22.9 mm extension gave me an inch and 5/16ths rough measurement. I was handholding when I imaged the scale, so it is a close approximation. The extension does not include any allowance for the RMS TO M42 adapter. Eyeballing the adapter, it seemed to be recessed so as not to add extension. I shoot with a canon, which I believe has a 44mm flange registration distances

Best

My husband does most of the raising of plants and I do most of the tending. I like gardening but it is not a passion. I have posted macro flower reproductive parts in this section in a random manner. In the summer I tend more to shoot bugs while they are about and mostly stack when the weather keeps me indoors. I look forward to seeing more of your macros so keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the info.

So that was from the flange to the M42 thread adapter, not to the Rafa D5400 adapter (which has the RMS threads I believe)? That would be a total of 22.9 + 44mm or 66.9mm to the camera sensor. Nikon is 46.5mm F to sensor distance, so that would be only 20.4mm extension.

Best,
