A6000 vs A6500 or A6300

I would either go for the A6500 now or wait until they release the A6700 and the A6500 will be available for lower prices. I have the A6500 as my backup camera to my FF A7RIII and A7III. The A6500 with its IBIS, great focus, 11fps shooting, great 4k video (downsampled from 6k) if you ever need it. The A6500 is so very accomplished that often I take it as my only camera for travel and whenever I need to save weight. Cheers

I had three A6500 Sony cameras...they all failed and Sony refused to warrant them. In Sony's defense they were out of warranty by a week on one and three weeks on another. I currently use a Sony A77 with a Sony 18-250 lens and love that combination.

Each model up adds features, ask what features are important. Mine was the fast auto focus and wanting my vintage lenses and other manual focus lenses to have stabilization, that drove me to go with the 6500. I was getting it as a second camera along with my a7ii, I find I use it more than the a7ii. Faster focus and for bird shots, get the 1.5x bump in my tele lenses. Only using the a7ii for night/low light, I will shoot with it for other things if I'm grabbing the first available camera and the 6500 is usually attached to my 150-600.

Sorry for your experience. My A6500 has been through tough use and has held up perfectly in travels and shooting in many countries. In fact all my Sonys, A7RII, A7RIII and new A7III have all held up fine to my professional use, no problems at all. Cheers

I also love using my A6500 with my Sigma Contemporary 150-600mm lens, an effective 225-900mm ,great for wildlife and more. Cheers

What kind of failures did they have? Were they the same failures in all 3 cameras? Hard to believe Sony wouldn't stand behind 3 failures of the same model. They should have given you a new one for a history like that.

Agreed, what were the failures? I have Sony Imaging Pro Services, but even regular Sony customers should have been compensated for any similar repeated failures.

If I remember correctly it was a circuit board in all three cameras. Sony said that they had corrosion and I said that it shouldn't have happened to three cameras...but didn't get anywhere with them. I love Sony products but I don't feel they treated me fairly in that instance.

Hello out there. I am considering upgrading to an Alpha6500 from an Alpha6000. I currently do not shoot video, just still photos.
Is the $ difference worth the upgrade? I thought about the A7series but do not want to buy new FF lenses. Thanks for your input.
I also have an embarrassing question, how do I place my picture on this site for all to see my smiling face? I should know this, don't.

I've always said that better to have what you'd like, than to spend more, and end up there anyway. And the 6500 has come down in price. I still own my 6000, (at it's current price, why sell it) and have the 6500.

Remember, if you need what it has to offer, you have it. You don't need to trade up again.

Oh my gosh, thanks for the answers. I mainly shoot landscapes such as waterfalls, mountains, harbors, sunset and sunrise (when I can get up) scenes.
My favorite places are the PNW (Pacific Northwest), Hilton Head, S.C., Fort Lauderdale, and soon Banff/Jasper area and the Carolinas/Tennessee/N.Georgia.I do not like to photo people,I use my cell phone for that. My primary go to lense is the Sony 10-18 wide zoom, and a 18-200. Do not use the kit lense.
Thanks again for all of your responses.

I always use a tripod when shooting, even when bike riding and hiking.
