I have been researching, researching, and researching some more and am firmly in the mirror-less fan club now. I am getting........wait for it.....no not Sony. I am getting the Fuji XT2! I went down to my local camera shop and held, played with, shot what I was looking for and am just enamored by the Fuji. I was going to upgrade my D5500 to the D7200 but realized that I didn't want to go any bigger or heavier but I wanted quality. I am happy with crop - didn't feel the need to go FF and the glass is amazing (and more reasonable than Sony) Even the kit 18-55 is super sharp - not your typical kit lens. I was able to get the XT2 w/ 18-55 for only $1499 (This sales goes until September when I think the XT3 will be coming out) My cousin (who is an amazing graphic designer) has the Canon 5D Mark IV and says he basically only takes his XT2 out with him now - he is crazy about it. What put me over the top was the exposure compensation dial - WOW! (and the EVF is pretty cool too)

I'm getting it next week - (they can't keep them in stock ;) Anyone out there have it and any suggestions for my next lens?

Enjoy your new Fuji XT2. Create some awesome images with it. I would start with the 18-55.

My boss got one last month, and I played around a little with it when he brought it into the office. I was shocked by the build quality - felt like an old time Leica, Contax, Nikon, or Canon rangefinder, maybe even a little better.

He has a pancake wide angle, with which he is very well pleased, and is considering telephotos.

When I looked in the digital viewfinder I was shocked again. As bright as a rangefinder from the 60s, I had to look twice to convince myself that I was actually looking at a digital display. It's just a bit smaller than I'd like, but holy cow on the image quality in the finder.

Enjoy, and let us know what you add while you're showing off some of your work.

Andy

I have owner the Fuji XT2 for about a year and a half. I shot Nikon FF before I purchased the Fuji and sold my Nikon gear after shooting with the XT2 for six months. Before I bought the XT2 I researched several mirrorless camera, mainly Olympus and Sony before I chose Fuji mainly because of their glass and tactile arrangement of dials and ease of use and its fun factor.

I sincerely hope that you experience the same experience with your Fuji as I have.

Thanks for your responses. I just got off the phone with my cousin and he suggested that I save up for the 50-140mm and those two lenses are all I would need for my trip to Costa Rica next May (going to look for one used ;) He loves his 18mm pancake lens. He also told me to look out for old glass which works brilliantly on this camera.

I’ve ranted and used this camera a couple of times, love the dials and ergonomics and simplicity of this camera. I shot some 4000
Plus photos, the only thing I did not like about the camera was the short battery life I would get maybe 250 clicks per battery. So depending on your shooting style you may want to buy at least 1 extra battey and a car chargers if your not near an electrical outlet, but other then that I found it to be a great camera with excellent IQ. Enjoy have fun and shoot away.

This camera feels like the old film cameras with all the great dials right on top at your fingertips and with 2 card slots, pretty fast and large focus points, what more could you ask for? (maybe better battery life - lol Probably their Achilles heel)

Yes, I hemmed and hawed about the battery but the other far outweighed the bad - going to get a couple extra. I do like that I can charge "in camera".

Yes, my cousin also said it is built like a tank - he has dropped his a couple of times (gasp) and no problems!

I have a friend that just got this camera too and he loves it. I took a look at this and what I liked is that most of the things a photographer might need to adjust are right there in the form of a dial or switch and not buried deep in a menu system that is hard to remember. It seems to take ok pictures too and my friend also added that Fuji' 18-55 lens is the best kit lens on the market today backed up by many reviews. I didn't read all the reviews, and I take them with a grain of salt so I would have to say that I'd have to see for myself. As far as other lenses go, I have not looked to see what they offer. One thing I can say is that you probably won't find any lens that are what we consider to be "fast" lenses for this body. So if you are okay with variable aperture lenses with zoom then you should be fine with some of Fuji's offerings.

I've read lots of good things about this camera and if I didn't already have a Canon mirrorless and a boat load of lenses I'd seriously consider getting one. Although I could get a good EF to Fiji X mount adapter. The one persistent con I've read about the camera is battery life. I personally do not consider the battery an issue because everything on the camera is electronic and the battery, like the camera, is small. You can't compare the charge life of a big Canon LP-E6 or a Nikon EN-EL15 to that of most mirrorless cameras because the aforementioned batteries are quite a bit larger. From what I've read and from personal experience, the average is around 250 shots per charge and since the batteries are pretty small, you can easily carry spares.

Most of the Fuji lenses are primes at F2. There are a few primes at 56 (85)F1.2 and probably their best lens is the 16/1.4. They have a 16 to 55 (24 to 81) F2.8 and a
50 to 140 (70 to 210)F2.8 Fuji just announced the 200 (300)F2.8 prime and the 8 to 16F2.8. Fuji glass offers the entire spectrum of focal lengths and very fast glass that rivals many of Nikon and Canon best lenses.

To be perfectly honest, I researched that as well and Fuji has quite a few "very fast" lenses. When the guys at the local camera shop say that 3/4 of the staff there carry a Fuji - you have to take notice!
