What are some of your weird photo experiences?

I've had 3 that come to mind. It so happens all 3 happened while driving. No, I was not the one taking the pictures. I drive truck for a living which is where the first two happened. My first was I was cruising down the freeway when this car slowly passing in the lane next to me slowed down to pace me. I looked and the guy in the passenger seat was indicating he wanted to take pictures or me diving. They paced me a little more than as they sped back up they waved thanks. My second I was with a different company and pulling double stainless steel tankers fresh from a wash. Again I'm just cruising down the freeway when a topless jeep with 2 guys starts passing me. They get almost to the cab when they slow down and start falling back. I'm thinking, great, someone that's always changing speed. They got back to my back trailer then stated pacing me. Then the passenger reaches back and comes back around with a camera and starts taking pictures of their reflection in my trailer. The third one I'm driving down a 2 lane country road in my bright red F350 4X4 crewcab with running boards. I see down the road a bride and a photographer in the road taking pictures in the opposing lane. I of course slow down so I can safely pass. When I get close they flag me to stop. She starts posing like she's running for the truck, then grabs the back door handle. To help play it up I hit the button to unlock the doors. She opens the door, puts a foot on the running board, and poses for a few more shots. Then she steps up like she's diving into the back seat for a few more pictures. She tells me thanks, I tell her congratulations, she steps out, closes the door, and gets out from in front of the camera. The photographer gets a few more shots of my truck as I drive off. I have absolutely no idea who they were.

Your last one is the funniest. I thought you were going to have a “Smokey and the bandit” experience

When a friend got married at a local hotel - the DJ's smoke effects set off the fire alarm. As the alarm was linked directly to the fire service they responded - initially this was potentially a wedding 'disaster' - however, quickly explaing the 'reason for the call out' I persuaded the fire crew to pose with the bride (who was very good looking - so that was easy to do) and turned it into a happy twenty minutes - almost unique to the happy couple. Yes the professional photographer made the most of it. I was just happy my friend 'enjoyed the experience' of having a 'final' fling with some 'hunky' chaps. The Groom was a good sport too!

Thanks for the cute story. The photographer turned what many would consider a disaster into a unique event.

You have basically missed three opportunities to charge for your services. Three strikes and your out.

My daughter failed a grade 6 science project because her pinhole camera prints were too good. The sad part was I made her do it all, making the camera, mixing the chemicals, test strips for the prints, and being able to explain everything, etc.

Great story! I love the big rigs, especially the ones tastefully modified with pride and personality. I too, take photos of them, as I consider the big trucks and their drivers to be the Kings (and Queens) of the highway!

Good stories.

I accept weird as a regular part of my life, so I have nothing to add.

I like unique photography situations. I read not long ago about a guy that was kind of upset because he came out of a business and a couple were leaning and posing with his super hot sports car while another person took photos. He ran them away from the car, wiped off any fingerprints and observed them driving away in some old clunker! Guess they needed some up scale photos!

Trying to get a selfie on a foot bridge in Oregon set the timer and ran back to the spot , everything was wet, hit the bridge and lost footing when trying to stop. I ended up taking a pic of me falling backwards in mid air .

Excellent! You would never have been able to do that on purpose. At least you didn't fall off the bridge.

This is one that while I did not have camera ready I certainly wish that I had: I was on I-10 east bound when I heard what I thought was a really loud Harley coming up on my left side. Quickly checking the rear view mirror I find nothing.

About a second later there is a jet black Beachcraft Bonanza about 10 to 15 feet off the ground cruising down the medium passing me with no tail numbers that I could see. This continues for several seconds and then he applies power, pulls up, and is gone.

Similar thing. Lady friend asked me to use her phone to
video her dancing to a street band. I'm hopeless with a
phone camera. So I'm shooting and she's yelling about
do I have her whole body and some background, which
I do NOT. No clue how to zoom to wider, so I'm backing
up while watching the monitor and acoarst trip over this
crack in the sidewalk and fall real fast landing flat on my
back very hard. It's thanks to a bystander sitting [OK he
is a "by-sitter"] where I fell, who caught my head barely
before it woulda smashed hard on the concrete. And as
expected the video shows an ever-widening field of view
of her dancing suddenly change to wildly twisting views
of sky, lamp post, trees, and such as I go down fast.

The audio includes music and her bragging up her body,
followed by some kinda "WTF ! Oh schidt ! Hey thanks,
Dude" as I fall but am quickly saved by that "by-sitter".
A masterpiece of Cinema Verite destined for obscurity.

Some of these get me to laughing. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad the biggest wounds are to one's pride.
