May be a useful reminder, to some readers,
if I confess right here that I am away from
home a few weeks, not especially focused
on landscapes ... but I am sorely pissed at
myself for neglecting to pack my solid little
table top tripod.

OK. Regret shared. Hope it helps someone.

BTDT....My Ultra-Pod goes everywhere and even fits nicely in the back pocket

Andy, I guess more than just my photography was inspired by A.Adams. The equipment I take was too. I remember this photo from a class I attended years ago.

Your work is always stunning - you do such a great job with both nature and architectural views. If other members want to see a broad range of subject matter and technique, there's no better source than Gene's Flickr feed. If you passed by this link, do yourself a favor and get some inspiration by clicking on it.

Just scrolling through those shots makes me want to abandon the yardwork I'm supposed to be doing on the last day of good weather before the heavy rains hit, and go out shooting. No, I won't, but finding the time to actually make photos is the biggest photographic problem I face on a daily basis.

Thanks for sharing them with the group, Gene.

I take my a7rii, with my Laowa 15mm, 16-35 f2.8GM, 100 f2.8GM, tripod, or monopod, polarizer, ND Filters, cooling clothes, hat, sun screen, bug spray, a travel blanket, and some snacks and a book.
I try to avoid all other forms of technology and make a day of it.

I’ll be traveling to Norway, Switzerland, Argentina, and Iceland this year for shoots so I will definitely be booking some extra days to fall off the grid and trek around! I love landscape shooting just as much as citylife.

It is only a fantasy job at first. Just like the one in the circus where you
get shot from a cannon, or put your head in a lion's mouth and say " nice kitty ".
Don't try it at home...... or for practice, hire Hannibal Lecter as your next
brunch host.

You got that right Andy, just went there (the link) and had to bookmark it. Besides, it doesn't take much for me to abandon any yardwork, especially in Florida in the summer.

Of course. Just speaking for MAYBE a few of
your tourists, never believing it myself. But
the one thing I did really mean to express is
that I really do think that wearing a brightly
colored P&S in plain sight has got to lead to
a feeling of common identity, and of reduced
social distance, between you and the tourist
audience on your tour bus ... and that it's a
really nice touch, wardrobe accessory-wise !

Making the occasional shot as you pass any
special subject matter would only reinforce
that connection. You're their "alpha tourist",
cuz you're always ready cuz you know what
will be next in view. Using your camera can
be like a symphonic conductor's baton :-)

Do NOT tell me your passengers are just a
bunch of old, grumpy, hungry, constipated
retired iron workers. Don't ruin my fantasy.

BTW I have been out on one of those huge
truck-like "Duck Boats" just like the one in
the tragic news lately. Not sea worthy. Not
hardly pond worthy ! Better to be a "duck
out of water" than a truck in the water. So
count your blessings riding a bus on land.

Yeah. We rode on them in Arkansas. REAL WW II ducks with no canopy so at
least you had a fighting chance if they sank. They were never meant to hold
30 people...... a cadre of 13 to 20 with arms and ammo. And they were much
better made than the new replicas being made today; nobody would pay for a
new WW II Duck when they could have a VanHool tour bus for the same $250,000.
