If you already have a monopod, try sticking the foot end into a front pocket of your pants/shorts. If you want something on your belt, Manfroto makes a monopod pocket. It is really cheap.
I have a great little tripod with a removable leg that converts to monopod, it came with a pocket to clip on your belt to make a great mobile platform.

SERIOUS users with larger/heavier lenses will want to use my bodypod/facial stabilizer ...... -

BTW, here is my latest "minipod" below - made of PVC- for light duty applications.
But the idea is basically the same - there are several of these light duty apparatus available commercially.
..
If you wish to share, how did you end up attaching the monopod head to the PVC?
If you've already got a tripod with you, you can partially extend two of the legs and put a foot in each front pants pocket. If the camera strap is around your neck, you can even let go to change lenses or make adjustments. Even the cheapest, lightest tripods work for this.

Bill- do you have a link for that?

It is frightfully expensive (grin)! And, you have to supply your own belt. I have one. It works well. But generally I'm wearing Carhart pants or shorts and they are rugged enough that a front pocket works equally well and is more convenient.
With stabilized M4/3 cameras, my sense is that a monopod in a pocket provides more mobility than a gimbal. It might also work well to support a lot of the camera weight for people with shoulder injuries!

The PVC is 1/2 inch - I use a 3/8 pipe nipple and a 3/8 brass cap. I drill and tap the brass cap for 1/4-20 and use a 1/4-20 Phillips head machine screw and thread it into the cap with a lock washer and then thread the cap onto the nipple. The nipple is a tight fit in the 1/2 PVC (might have to do a little Dremel work to get the nipple to thread in). I then use a stainless hose clamp to hold the nipple and a stainless D ring in place (for a neckstrap connection).

Someplace that sells fishing equipment sell a belt for sport fishing. Normally used for a fishing rod on a boat. Works with a monopod and won't tear your pants pockets.

People that carry flags, like Boy Scouts use something similar. I tried and failed to find them on Amazon. Maybe flag shops.

I use this exact setup with a 3 Legged Thing monopod and a dslr with a Sigma 150-600 Sport lens. Works great.
Thanks Bill for the links :)
