Beautiful butterflies, Angela! It's a shame what's happening to them. From what I've read, there are more and more toxins in the environment that is killing bee colonies, I'm sure they're not the only ones.

Thanks, Cathy, glad you liked! I have to agree, it must be the pesticides and I've heard they spray at night for mosquitos, so who knows what else they're killing!!
I have 7 little ones that look pretty healthy, so fingers crossed!!

...and it's a boy!

I have 5 monarchs cats all hanging in their chrysalis... I found this one this morning ready to take flight...
3 more to go because sadly one didn't make it, it turned black right after going into chrysalis.

I don't know what's going wrong this year, but right after the little eggs hatch, a lot of the tiny cats died.... so I don't think I'll be anywhere near the 23 I released last year... :-(

Fabulous set Angela, This year has been exceptional for butterfly's I the UK but they are warning that due to the prolonged dry spell and the lac of food for the chrysalis's it could
spell trouble for next years crop?

Thanks Corky... I think she's been back a few more times, I have more eggs and tiny cats to care for and a few larger ones. Hope they all make it!!

Hi Geoff and thanks for your visit and glad you liked. Sorry to hear that news, let's hope the rains come and help them all out, that would be a devastating loss!! I know the Monarchs here were on the decline, but this year I'm seeing more and the mama has visited my milkweed many times again... caring for many eggs and tiny cats and this time, they're all doing well!!
