Yes, agreed, good advice for any one.... Get a program, learn it sure, OK, use auto in the beginning ... and perhaps many times there afterward "what ever floats your boat." Learn to enjoy and not work hard.

Yes many out here, but get a powerhouse for low cost. I suggest one with modern new code vs weak ones and patched ones like Adobe. For $50 you can get Affinity... highly rated and plugins work. Topaz has converted to Studio, which is the base program, free, strangely it is designed to be easy.. but for me it is complicated, since I have worked so long with Topaz as plugins for edit programs.

Hi Hogs. Just interested to find out if anyone is using an auto adjust option when converting raw.
My main S/W converter and editor is Capture One and my secondary is LR.
There are occasions when I don't have enough time to sit and tweak after converting so I'll click the auto adjust option.
I like the auto adjust feature in Capture One except that it gets too picky and tends to over adjust. LR has a plug in (forget the name) that's not to bad, but nothing stellar. Are there any standalone converters that are pretty good at this?
Thanks, Greg
Hi Hogs. Just interested to find out if anyone is ... (show quote)

Why shoot in raw, when you use auto adjust, might as well be shooting in jpeg (saves you a few steps)!

Because Auto Adjust as a starting point, at least in Lightroom, preserves the original raw bit-depth, whereas shooting in jpeg format does not. I never convert to jpg except when I export the files that go into slide shows or books, or for sharing on the web (oh yes, when I print directly from LR, it also converts the files sent to the printer).

But if shooting in jpeg format is what you prefer, I won't argue with you. It boils down to personal preference.

I shoot only in RAW. Nikon. I only use Lightroom Classic CC for PP work. All of my imported files receive AUTO Tone and WB, which I may adjust in files that I select for further PP. Just my $ .02. Best of luck

No, I only shoot raw, never shot a jpeg!

I also agree with dpullum. RAW allows you to tweek or even modify a picture that you couldn't do in the camera. Going auto anything in post processing seems to make shooting RAW pointless. There is a lot you can do in JPEG with out the hassle.
