In May, 2016, I found this 5-6 inch grasshopper that blended into the dirt and dry plants making it hard to find. I purposely left that background camouflage in the shot. It was not easy to see him in the natural surroundings, but he is quite a specimen.

Alby, it WAS huge. This was taken on the plateau at the Bolsa Chica Wildlife Refuge in Huntington Beach, CA. I might not have even seen it if it hadn't been so large. Thanks for asking.

Some critters have great camouflage so as to protect them from predators. Very nice shot.
