I bought 2 adapters because they advertised that they had no glass which was a problem with adapters I understand. But when I received them the Lens would adapt but the camera would not operate saying "No Lens Attached" I have a Canon 60D & a ton of old glass. I put on manual but the adapter has no contacts to comunicate with camera. Made in China by the way. Any susggestions.

This works for me so sorry I can not offer any help. You will need to manual focus though.

Thank you for your concern. If I had searched through old subjects at UHH I would have avoided this. Live & learn, now to go trough & get my money back.

I use a FD to EF adapter and have no problems what so ever mine does have the glass built into it. I got mine off Amazon and its made in Japan (Zykkor) is the brand. Just remember you must shoot in manual mode.

I just pulled out the camera - it is a Canon F-1 - is that the same style as yours - I am going this way to have a fully manual DSLR

The adapter has the same lockup mechanism as any old Canon FD style mount. The other end is of the new style Canon EF mount. I use the Canon f1.4 FD and all the lenses I have which is six lens all photos are done by hand and tripod where needed. Your Canon F-1 camera lenses should work on any EOS Canon camera in manual only. Hope this helps.

The two old film Canon cameras I have are the Canon EF and A-1.

It really does as this is what I want - a quality manual DSLR - with these lens already I am saving a bunch of $$$ I don't have to spend. Retirement in my case means getting by on not too many extras but still live pretty good.

Thanks everybody. I'm sending mine back & going to http://fotodioxpro.com/index.php/ or http://www.rugift.com/ and buy a quality adapter from a reliable company. I have some great old lens ie; 50mm 1.2 to name one I will put back to work. I searched old UHH & fould a tone of advice. Thank you all again. It's good to hear current advice & testimonies.

As went thru the 2 camera cases from my friend this is the total of lens as well as a Pro Pentax Spot meter:

24mm 1:1.8 sc F1.8 - F16
50mm 1:1.8 sc F1.8 - F16
35 - 70mm 1:3.5 F3.5 - F16
70 - 150mm 1:3.8 F3.8 - F22
500mm 1.8

I feel this cash of lens deserves a second chance even if it is on a amateur/hobby basis.

Harvey one of the guys on UHH told me that it was like using a 1.4X converter so u will loose some light. So a 50mm 1.4 would be like a 1.7. I do have one adapter w/o glass that work ok buy for close ups only. I am going to buy the new ones with glass & I will try to let you know how they work when I get it. Do the same for me will you.

My whole thought is to get a manual DSLR out of this - If I still have to do some PP or remember to boost the light that is fine with me.
It will be a while before I make this move as I have to sell a personal pontoon fishing boat I never use ( I won it in a raffle) in order to buy the camera and adapter.
Plus continue to read up on this as well as pay attention to the info given hereon UHH.

CHECK OUT THE 2 SITES I POSTED FOR ADAPTERS & that should help. Good luck my friend. I bought my Canon 60D on craigs list at a steal. It was not hot, by the way.
