Lightroom 6 - Help

Thought this might be the best fit for my question.

Lightroom 6 - Stand Alone
OS - Windows 10

Now when ever I use the Graduated filter or the adjustment brush they both paint in blue. Now when I move the sliders they just adjust the blue paint. If I increase/decrease exposrure the blue paint increases or decreases. Same result with all of the sliders, the blue remains in the image. Click "Done" and what ever I painted remains blue in color.

Have tried to get help from Adobe but no luck.

Any ideas hoggers?

Don

When you use, say, the graduated filter, if you scroll down to the bottom of the grad filter box (just below the word Defringe), is there a color, or is there an "X" in the box opposite the word "Color?" If there's a color, and you don't want it, double-click on the word "Color." The colored box should change back to an "X" and the color cast will be removed.

Just did that Dan, the problem still persists. Paint is still blue and colors anywhere I brush.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don - I just watched (again) an Adobe tutorial on the graduated filter and adjustment brush to see if anything jumped out that might describe your problem. I didn't see anything other than the possibility that you somehow have the temp or tint adjusted incorrectly (look around the 12:30 mark on the video shown below) or perhaps you have selected a color in the HSL panel (around the 17:00 mark) that's causing the problem. It certainly seems to be an elusive problem. I hope it gets straightened out.

sounds like you have checked show selected mask overlay on the bottom most panel right above the film strip.. This feature allows you to "see" where you are painting or where the effect will be and how strong. I have mine in red I believe you can set it to any color.. by wselecting the tools tab top left and then selecting adjustment mask overlay and then selecting a color from the popup menu. You can turn the overlay on and off with the shortcut O or by unchecking/checking the setting on the bottom tab. Another possibility is your temp slider under white balance is pulled to the left causing blue to be part of any adjustment.

Did you know that you can show/hide the mask by pressing the letter "o"? Usually it's red, but as Lloyd says, you can change the colour.

Just found out something that may help you guys help me with this problem in Lightroom. Appears as though if I use the adjustment brush on a blue sky the paint tint is blue and again it just reacts to what ever slider I use. If I use the adjustment brush on say some brown burnt grass the adjustment brush tint is more of an orange.
Does that give anyone a clue to what is going on?

Thanks,

Don

When you open the Adjustments brush check the position of all of the sliders - especially the saturation slider. I've found that it's easy to click on a slider and get it to jump to one of its extremes. You may have done that without realising it. I've also noticed that the sliders don't always reset. Sometimes they keep some or even all of the slider settings from the previous time it was used. I cure that by resetting all of the sliders manually and then closing the brush. The next time I open it the sliders will be reset.

do you have auto mask checked? If so whatever is under the first place you click (where the pin is) will get the adjustment.. range mask with the color option will do something similar but you can adjust the color range..
can you provide a screen shot of the right panel that would include the sliders used and the brush settings...

This week I got a survey from Adobe about their stand alone vs subscription programs. Up until Friday, you could buy a stand-alone V.6. As of today, you cannot, even though it says you can on their page. They have gone entirely to subscription based programing. For me, that means it is time to change programs. Any suggestions that will not require to much of a learning curve?

V6 can still be purchased from several sites. For example https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1140015-REG/adobe_65237402_photoshop_lightroom_6_download.html

This is the last non subscription version available. As long as your camera is pre 2017 it will be ok for you. There are work arounds free from Adobe if you have a 2018 camera.

My thanks to all that tried to assist with this problem. Starting with the link furnished by FrumCA and going to many more I think I have gotten the problem under control. A few minor operator errors added up to the total problem. Sliders not resetting, saturation are some contributing factors.

Thanks again to all of you for your kind assistance!!
