It was great observing this Pileated Woodpecker nest...especially watching and hearing the combined effort of the adults to get the last little male out! His sister was the first to go...but the little male took a lot of continuous noisy encouragement to get him to leave his happy home It got so noisy that even the Flicker came over to the hole to investigate!! These parents were more than glad to welcome the empty nest syndrome. Lol

Precious! You are so lucky to be able to follow along with this little family. If I remember right, the babies will stay near the parents until fall. So hopefully you can keep following them for awhile longer. Nice photos and thanks for keeping us updated!

Thank you very much alby...so glad you liked the set...in fact there were chips flying not too long before the immature Woodpeckers fledged! I thought that was odd at that late date🤔

Thank you so much Audrey...I am so thankful I got to watch them...this was my first Pileated Woodpecker nest sighting! Sadly I've looked and listened for them since they've fledged...but to no avail...perhaps they've moved deeper into the woods😰

Very nice Jan! I have a hard enough time just finding a woodpecker to photograph. Lucky you to be able to photograph them raising their babies.
