Thank you, for getting me to read reviews on the A57. Seems like the ideal camera for me.

According to wikipedia there are 2 disadvantages to the SLT camera

"1. Less light reaching sensor, due to portion of the light being reflected to phase-detection autofocus array (approximately 1/3 EV or 21% in current designs)."

2. Refresh rate limited by the time it takes the sensor to form an image; in low light this causes severe stuttering of the viewfinder image when panning (e.g. if it takes 1/4 sec for the sensor to gather enough light to form an image then the EVF updates at 4FPS).[citation needed]

I just figure that those doing the reviews must be biased to their cameras which I am sure are not Sony's. Lol.

I would agree. When you see something on wikipedia that says 'citation needed', it usually means they don't have any facts, just hearsay or opinion.

At least my Sony A57 writes to the card just as fast as any Canon I had. The bit of light reflected to the viewfinder does not seem to be any problem as far as I can see. I took a 6 frame pic at night, in camera HDR processing, it took ~4 seconds to process. (how long will it take you to process in PP?) The ISO was 2000, 1/125 f/1.8. So I am not sure who wrote the Wic. entry on the Translucent Mirror series, but don't think they were very familiar with the camera before writing that, OR, bias. Ok, I'll just post the pic.

O, and this is hand held. The fairis wheel was moving.

abenjohar, the a57 body with 2 lenses was 700.00 and I sold the lenses. I bought all Minolta lenses. They have some excellent lenses, as good as any. The cost on them is low, and you have to buy used, they are out of business. They are from the late 1980's to the late 1990's. Auto focus, and the Sony has "IS" in the body, so you don't need it in the lens. The Minolta lenses are light compared to most other brands. There is a forum just for Sony Alpha and Minolta lenses, they list the best lenses and there are 1000's of reviews. http://www.dyxum.com/
