My first post to this site! Thought I’d start out with something simple from a couple of years ago. This is inside the TX capital building in Austin. Unfortunately all I had with me at the time was my smartphone. I would’ve interested in seeing the same from other states. Your comments and critiques are most welcome.

A fine shot but, I would be in the center shooting up. Not bad for a phone cam. Some day I'll have to go to my state's capital and take a picture of the rotunda too.

I just happen to have a couple shots of the Iowa State Capitol Rotunda to post. There, I just saved DNW a trip to Des Moines.

I know you specifically stated state capitols but here's one of our local county courthouse rotunda.

I intentionally shot it with an offset to give the pic some depth...perhaps It was a bit of an over-reach...

great pics of some beautiful buildings and history

i had luck using a smartphone in the stairs of an Oregon Lighthouse by laying the phone on the floor with the camera in "selfie" mode ....that way I could see the image ..you can take the picture by touch or with the cameras timer

The NJ rotunda is no longer there. Christie moved out.

(I know. A Jersey joke.)

Welcome. One area studied in architectures is the domed buildings. They do go a way back in History.

Your shot with your smartphone camera it great. By shooting obliquely, you bring out the depth of the dome. Great shot and a great job.

You also have provided a challenge.
