Has anyone had any luck in replacing the rubber piece around the tripod socket on a canon 5D mk3, what did you use?
Thank you for your help.

I recently replaced a rubber piece on my tripod head. Went to the auto parts store and purchased a 'make you own gasket set' made up of several thicknesses of rubber. After matching the thickness as close as possible to what was lest on the tripod head, I cut one to fit and used contact cement to glue it on the tripod head. Works well, just be sure you to use a bit of wax paper between the replacement and the location you desire it to go. Then slowly remove the wax paper as you are pressing down on the new piece until it is installed.
I use Gorilla Glue for all such applications.
If re-attaching an intact piece that has come
loose it's very important to eradicate all trace
of the original glue. I use Goof Off for that.

Agreed, except that I have access to used bar and restaurant equipment and find the matting on many serving trays ideal. A friend uses cork from his car customizing business (new scraps from custom jobs) just as effective.
