1966 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
One terrific machine with the lines of a cat that could turn 150mph on a tank regular gas! --
Not to mention the 13.5 quarts of oil keeping all things turning nice & smooth!!
An iconic sports car that was way ahead of its time!

Stop. Please stop. No more Jag pictures. I just can't take it anymore!
The XKE was perhaps the sleekest, best performing "production" car of it's time. Mine is a '69 Coupe. She will squeal rubber in three gears. Can't even begin to describe how well she sticks to the road. Kinda looks like she is doing 100mph, just sitting at the curb.
PS: Mine doesn't get wet!
Hate to be a party pooper but the uncovered headlights means it's at least a 68. Looks like the tail lights are still above the bumper so it's not a 69 or later, must be a 68. I had one, a 68 FHC (fastback fixed head coupe) somehow titled as a 67 so it had high compression engine and 3 carbs. It was not ahead of its time by any stretch, actually quite crude in some respects but man was it fun! And... more dependable than the Volvo I had later.
That was a great car show, KT!

Can't stop yet, a few more cars, some boats and one more Jag to go.

From Wikipedia: "Not widely known, right at the end of Series 1 production, but prior to Series 1.5, a small number of Series 1 cars were produced with open headlights. In right hand drive form, production has been verified as late as July 1968. They are not "rare", but certainly uncommon."
It was listed as a 1966 in the program for this Vintage Car show. I'm assuming the owner knows what it is.

First one I ever saw was their first year 1961. In Fairbanks, Alaska in the winter. Only 4 miles of blacktop out to the University and 11 miles of blacktop out to Fox and then down to Anchorage. Road to Anchorage was plagued with frost heaves that would launch a car at 60 mph. All that car and nowhere to go.
Testing the Roadster for rust. Jags (all brit cars) were serious rust gatherers. Iceberg rust-You only see 10-15% of rust. The rest is hidden. I had a shop and restored British cars, Italian (particularly Alfa), etc.
The Jag roadster was an interesting car and the test for rust was fairly simple. With a monocoque backbone for a frame, you jacked the car up in the middle once on each side. The dimension the rear door jamb opened up at the top, was an indicator of amount of Rust. We actually could determine if a jag roadster was not redeemable in restoration based on that measurement.
Jag roadsters could be determined for the crusher using this method. In more recent years some diehard enthusiasts will attempt to restore non redeemable cars through any means necessary. However, most of those cars have disappeared years ago.
This test did not work for coupes, and some determined restorers have cut up coupes, which were far more beautiful than the roadsters. These people should lose their testicles in the public square at high noon.
The coupe won awards for being one of the best styling exercises in the top ten of the world. Interesting that another top ten awardee was the US military jeep from WWII.
So what is the door gap measurement on your roadster, when jacked up in the middle, for each side?
The beautiful XKE, a real classic. Even if they did collect rust.
