Weird!! But fixed. Adobe Desktop App

For some reason my Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app stopped working. i solved it by going to Adobe and reinstalling. I'm never surprised by PC glitches, but at times I do find them mysterious.
Please, no Mac comments or "Go Apple Comments". I live in a small condo community. In the past two days, I assisted three Mac users solve small issues. An occasional glitch is the most I've had to deal in 22 years of PC/Windows computers. I've always been able to solve an issue. The worst has been re-installation/recovery of an OS.

Thanks for stopping by!

I had the same thing happen to me.
Reinstalled like you said.
No idea why it happened.
First issue I've had with the latest LR/PS release.

This would not have happened if you had a Mac. Or so I've been told ad nauseam . . .

I have always felt Mac's were PC's for dummies. I don't mean the people who own them are dummies - I just think the OS was created for dummies. I can recall making a trip to an Apple Store to experience a Mac because I wanted to learn about them. I discovered it was no more intuitive than Windows. We each have our own learning styles and preferences. I like the variety of options with Windows. I understand not everyone agrees with my thinking. That's fine. I Just don't appreciate hearing, "Get a Mac - you won't have any problems".

I'm curious, was the Adobe glitch proceeded by a windows update?

I try to avoid Mac vs Windows, Nikon vs Canon, DSLR vs Mirrorless, Conservative vs Liberal, et. al. debates that hinge largely on personal preference.

But while asking that Mac users not comment, you then go on to denigrate MacOS and gloat about 22 years of Windows? So you gave up all rights to avoid what follows.

I did not have the recent Adobe issue you described, nor have I had ANY adobe issues within the last year while using MacOS. I don't reboot my Mac as a matter of course when the wind changes. And I have the option to install or delay MacOS updates, unlike Windows updates. I have been using MacOS since 2005 and I can say affirmatively that MacOS is not problem free, but there are much fewer problems than with Windows, most of the time, it just works. It doesn't constantly download updates, and I don't need anti-virus software sucking 50% of my cpu to keep the computer running. That alone is HUGE.

I apologize if I denigrated the Mac OS. My comment was directed at those who flaunt Macs insisting they are trouble free. They are not. The glitch was not coincident with an Windows update. That is the first issue I've had with Adobe products. I've used them for 20+ years and Adobe Creative Cloud app for almost 7 years.
It is not my intent to instigate a debate. Mainly, I was responding to Gene51.

Sorry JD750.

I’m sorry if my response was harsh. I will stipulate: MacOS is definitely not trouble free.

Interesting about the glitch. Hmmm. This could be a symptom of a degrading hard drive. Errors might be occurring that are exceeded the capability of the error correction software. If I were you I would be paranoid and I would run some tests on that hard drive

I'm not overly concerned about the cause of the Creative Cloud app needing re-installation. I have a 2 TB EVO 850 Samsung SSD as my OS drive. I have two other sata drives for data and 4 externals for backup. There are no indications of issues. I do appreciate your response and suggestions.
Thanks,
Mark

Ok you are welcome. Threre is always the chance that a galactic cosmic ray (GCR) will flip a bit. Historically not much problem on Terra Firma, but as as memory densities have continued to increase bit flips due to GCRs have become higher probability events. But you would need two errors or more to cause the problem described. That doesn’t fit the GCR model.

Just a suggestion for those of us who are less computer savvy - if you are a Creative Cloud subscriber, Adobe phone support is included and they can be helpful for some issues.

So is their Chat support. I prefer Chat to phone calls. I have hearing issues.

I had that issue recently as well. Same scenario where the app had to be deleted & reinstalled.

Without addressing all of your other claims and like Mark, trying to avoid the (unending) Mac vs PC battles, where did you get the idea that 50% of Windows CPU time is spent on anti virus SW? It’s built into Windows, and my CPU idles at 2-3% utilization unless I’m running a specific application. And btw, you do have the option to prevent/delay Windows updates (but not necessarily good practice to do so).
