I was inside the Old Rio Grand train station in Salt Lake today, and thought I would take a few pictures. These windows are up high in the arched ceiling, and I thought they were beautiful.

Very wonderful shots! They must be lower to the ground than I was expecting or you were on a balcony.

They are over 20 feet up, but I got back acrost the room to take the images. I am adding a photo of the room to give some idea of the size and location.

Stricking shots!

Do you know what the "electronic devices" at the center bottom of each window. They look like lights pointing outward, but I'm not sure what the purpose of that would be.

I imagine they are lights. Probably on at night so they can turn off the other lights and save money. It is only open while the Mall is open. They actually built a Shopping Mall around it.

Absolutely love the stained glass. Such detail. I especially like the train & stagecoach. Thank you for sharing.

As a stained glass lover, I am curious, are they cut glass? If so, what an artist, wow. Your shots depict them beautifully.

Not having seen them in person, but from the gorgeous photos, I am guessing they are done in copper foil (Tiffany Style) because of the many, many small pieces of glass cut to create the images. I've been a stained glass artist for a very long time and these windows are remarkable!
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for your input, sounds like you know more than I do about how they might be made. All I know is that I thought they were beautiful, and wanted to share them.

Well, your thinking & actions are correct: recognizing the beauty of the windows & sharing them; that's the important thing! :-)
