Following, and trying to capture an image of a Hummingbird in flight has got to be one of the most frustrating activities I've ever attempted to do with a camera. Fact is 20% of a hummingbird's diet is protein (bugs) and when they are above a pond of water hunting and eating insects, they never fly slow and the never fly in a straight line. This guy stopped for a nano-second and I took advantage of the time delay. Did I continue to work at this impossible task? No ... I started following one of the birds and found the tree she had nested in and am now capturing images when she's sitting on the eggs.
It is a bit difficult. Nice effort.
Nice shot.
My unsolicited suggestion would be to crop 1/2 to 2/3 off the bottom. The bokeh is nice but you don't want to overwhelm your subject with it.
Well done. Hummers are tough. vz
f/stop, I have more than a few hummer attempts, and none are shots I would post, so my hat is off to
you for this fine shot.
Thanks for your positive comment. Those little guys are near impossible.
Thanks Joe B., but I guess my whole idea was to show them in relationship to the water. I understand what you were saying. Thanks.
VZ, you are so right. It was still fun listening to all the folks talking about that guy with the big lens and fancy camera.
Mike, without it being tough a point-n-shot photographer could have taken it. That's what I love so much about wildlife photography. Thanks. And I love capturing images in your wonderful state.
Fred, I'm with you. It's so hard just to follow them but then I'm suppose to focus. Gotta chock it off to having fun. Thanks, Jer
