My son is at summer camp with the boy scouts. They found this small creature crawling through their tent. They called it a stick bug but I'm curious what the real name of it is. Any input would be appreciated. :)

A stickbug....in many pet stores they sell these...they make an interesting insect to study...my daughter in law who is a teacher kept them in aquariums with sticks and leaves for quite awhile in her classroom. The kids loved them but they multiplied like crazy...she finally gave them to a local pet shop.

Male walking stick, the female is green and much larger.....the old folkes used to call it a devils darning needle.

I go along with your assessment. It does look like a stick and it walks on those very fine stick legs.
