I just wanted to share a couple of shots I got of this fellow getting a snack. Hope you like them.
Looks like it must have been yummy....
I think I had one of those out of a tequila bottle. :)
I thought the red bellies were northern birds. I was surprised to see a palm tree. If I were an insect eater I'd definitely live in a tropical setting...lots more bugs!

The Red bellies live here all year. I don't see very many of them. I was lucky to catch this one in that setting.

Thanks rlaugh. It was the same with me for a long time. I would see them but not able to get a shot. I was in a different area Friday (maybe 60 miles apart) and got some very similar shots. I tried to upload them but I'm at the beach and the signal is very weak.

I'm trying one more time to upload.
hmmm that would be a northern or western flicker I bet. Not a red bellied woodpecker.
I stand corrected. I noticed my faux pas when I saw where you lived. I live in nanaimo or what you would call the pacific northwest in the states and we have several similar birds known as flickers here. I also was confusing yours with the red headed woodpecker. Ah well we live and learn.

Those are some fantastic shots,Sunfish 33!
Nice pictures! Thanks so much for sharing. Being a birder, I go straight to everyone's bird pics!
