I have an opportunity to visit Eureka Springs and northwestern Arkansas—a part of this country I’ve never been to before. Is anyone familiar with this area, who could give advice and recommendations on sightseeing, especially photography? Much appreciated...
Don’t miss Lake of the Ozarks.

www.eurekasprings.org website gives all sorts of information
There is a bus that goes all around Eureka Springs. Take a round trip to see where you might want to return for photos. I think it runs every half hour. Go to the Northwest corner of the state and visit Bentonville, where Walmart began and see the Walmart museum and the Crystal Bridges Museum, both free. Don't miss either one.
I have never driven a more beautiful road than Hwy 7 from arrison to the south. But when they say 15 mile mph curves, they mean it! At 20 you may be down a 500' mountainside. And there are a lot of them.. Few places to pull over, but the viewa are superb.
Look into spending a day at Turpentine Creek. Just a few miles south of Eureka Springs. It is s big cat rescue ranch.
My wife and I rented one of their cabins for 3 days. There were two Siberian Tigers 15 feet from our deck.
North West Arkansas! Wow! Just pick a road and go. Be it paved or gravel. Many years and thousands of miles roaming Arkansas and never disappointed. Stop at little country stores and ask about the area. You want be disappointed.
Eureka Springs is only about an hour east of Bentonville, AR, home of the Crystal Bridges Museum (free). Pea Ridge National Battlefield in on the route btw ES and Bentonville. Just north in MO is Dogwood Canyon. I have not visited there but it appears to be beautiful. If you get to Springfield, MO visit the

I recommend starting your photo tour in downtown Eureka Springs and then branching out from there, e.g., to the Crescent Hotel and then to any likely-looking small street. I second the motion re the Crystal Bridges Art Museum, a world-class museum with a permanent collection solely of American art, and with an incredible, photogenic setting and architecture. Most visitors are quite amazed.

Northwest of Eureka Springs is the small town of Beaver (7 miles). It has a very interesting photogenic bridge, quite pretty. Southwest of Eureka is the War Eagle Mill and bridge (25 miles), beautiful setting! Thorncrown Chapel is interesting, and photogenic)(3 miles west). At Boxley, along the Buffalo River NP you can find elk, especially in the evenings (49 miles). If you like caves, Blanchard Springs Caverns is considered one of the most beautiful caves in America (120 miles). Depending on rainfall, there are several interesting waterfalls within 2 hours drive time, Haw Creek Falls, Falling Water Falls, etc. Petit Jean State Park is very pretty (152 miles). Remember to drive the roads less traveled. Mileages are from Eureka Springs and Google.
