Who has experience with camera triggers? I am looking at MIOPS and Pluto. I am looking to create some lightening photos and I also am interested in the camera control from my phone. The cost between the two is considerable, so I just wanted to see what experiences you have all had with each of these tools.

I haven't used any of those but, I have a "Freewave Styker II and I have success with that brand. I paid only 130.00 for it too. It does motion, sound, and light.

I have the miops, works very well with my Canon 6d, it does more than just lightning, I used it for making star trails at night. I want to set up a laser to use the motion ability it has at the bird feeder but haven’t yet. I was anxious for the lightning shots but haven’t had any electrical storms that I was available for to try that as yet. I don’t know about the other trigger but I like the miops and the app to control it with my iPhone, again works very well.

I've been using el cheapo for over 6 years without any issues now and it has never let me down. It is called the Wave Commander (by Flashpoint), and I payed $19.95 for it. It can trigger a camera from up to 320' away (in all modes), and it is also an intervalometer. I never had anything to complain about this little trigger, it has served me well on a daily basis!

I have a Nero Trigger that works very well, does lightning, sound and laser. I used the sound funtion to trigger a flash for this shot of a water balloon shot with a pellet gun.

Hey happy sailor. You want lightning? Come on down to Tampa Bay (Florida).....the lightning capital of North America.

LOL, I was done there for the month of March, I don't recall even seeing rain. We usually get a few dandies each year but the only one I saw so far this year was when I was out with the wife going to some event that the camera wasn't with me!!!!

but thanks for the tip, maybe I need to visit in the summer months too!

Thank you all. This has been very helpful. I have also been wanting to experiment with star trails (for about the past twenty years) and this information has been great for leading me towards that goal.
