Here are a few shots from today’™s visit. At 7am it was 94 degrees. Thank goodness it’s the animals’™ natural habitat and there was lots of shade.

Nikon D7200, Nikon 70-300mm lens.

That giraffe pic is begging for a caption or thought bubble . . . . . .

Nice shots!

Plan to go there in January. Can you recommend other nearby photo ops?

Will have 4 days and a Jeep.

You must go to Joshua Tree Nat’l Park. It’s about an hour away, and if you drive through the entire park it’s 150 mile trip from Palm Springs and back. It’s like two parks, with lots of rock formations, and different plants/trees, and there are some off-roading trails for the Jeep.

The Salton Sea is south of Palm Springs, and on the way you’ll see lots of date tree orchards and other fruit/vegetable fields. The mountains surroundong the Valley look different each day and you can get some wonderful shots.

There’s a walking trail area called The Oasis a bit north of Palm Desert, and the palm trees are amazing! It reminds me of the “island” that the Gilligan Island group landed on.

And, of course, there’s the Living Desert.

If you are a street/peole photographer, you must hang out at one of the sidewalk cafes in Palm Springs and just shoot. There’s a street fair on Thursday evenings, and you just just sit back and shoot. If you’re here during the film festivals, there are lots of top Hollywood stars in town and you can get some close shots of them.

In Palm Springs, there’s an architectural tour and you can have a guided tour with lots of photo ops. There’s also the tram ride to the top of one of the mountains. The ride up itself is worth the time. It turns as you’re going up and coming down, and you’ll be able to shoot during the ride. There will be snow probably, but the view of the entire Coachella Valley is amazing. From the top of the tram, you can get shots of the Salton Sea, which is, I think, about 50 miles away. There are lots of hiking trails, and you won’t want for photo ops.

That’s all I can think of for now.

If you have any questions while you’re here, you can always private message me.
