Need Help with old lens fittings

I have an older 500MM manual focus lens from old 35MM film camera. I want to get an adapter to fit it that will allow me to use it on my Canon EOS T3i Camera. The lens is a 55MM T-Mount, the camera is a T-Mount 58MM. I can't find a double T-Mount Adapter that will fit both camera and lens. I can unscrew the T-Mount fitting off the end of the lens leaving a screw type end on the lens. But when I do that I don't know how to figure out what size MM thread end this would give me. I hope that if I can figure this out I can find Canon T3i T-Mount Adapter to screw on lens that will work. Anyone know how to figure this out. The old camera was a Minolta Maxxum 7000. The lens is old Kalimar. I bought one adapter off ebay that they assured me would fit both Canon and lens but it did not. It fit the camera but did not fit the lens. The lens opening was smaller than the adapter opening. I know that I can buy a cheap 500MM lens that would fit Canon. But since I have this old lens and just want to play with it I don't want to spend $130.00 for a new one.

You don't need a "double T-Mount", just a T-Mount for Canon digital. Also, not T-2 or T-4, just T-Mount. Make sure it's not for old Canon FD mount.
Have I confused things enough, zuzanne?

Yep. If I get the T-Mount for Canon, how do I get it to fit the lens which is a different diameter?

Forget the term 'T-mount'; don't use it when you contact
www.BandH.com and ask for an adapter for your lens to camera.

Jimbo, I bought 2 adapters because they advertised that they had no glass which was a problem with adapters. But when I received them the Lens would adapt but the camera would not operate saying "No Lens Attached" Have U used these adapters before?

I bought a Fotodiox adapter to mate a Minolta 70-210 (Beercan) lens to my Panasonic GH2 and it works perfectly. I tried both BandH and Fhotodiox neither one had adapter for the lens. Guess I will just have to forget about playing with it. Thanks for all your help.

Here is a site that may have the adapter you are trying to find. Email them with a description of your lens and camera.
Hope you find the correct part.

Thanks Jimbo, you've been a big help. I wish I had asked before I had ordered these two adapters.
