I'm evaluating Topaz Studio, and trying to decide if it adds value. One of young eagle photos is the best I can do with Photoshop, the other 2 are the same photo with one-click presets, "HDR warmer" and "Warm Light".

It seems like they add some value, but is it an improvement?

If you reply with A, B, or C . . . .I'll know.
Thanks

One-click presets are not a useful way to judge software IMO. Also, "improvements" are all relative and should be based on what you want from the result. I'm sure there are experienced PS users who could adjust your original to supply whatever you feel may be lacking

I can't recall if Studio has the ability to mask out an effect from certain areas. If not, you can apply a layer mask via Photoshop. For example, with #3 I'd mask your filter from the branch/perch - it currently has neon green highlights.

btw, I'm not against Topaz in the least. I have both Simplify and Detail + I use Nik Collection extensively - all with PS Elements as the host program. Using layers and layer masks you can adjust those pre-sets selectively.

I find the florescent branch too distracting in C. As far as preference, I would go A, C, and B. I have very little PP software and experience, so I would back to the monitor and try Linda's suggestions. I really think there is a better picture to be made from your shot.

A, due to the perch branch having unnatural colors to it.

In retrospect, I agree that A. is best, but it still needs a bit of work.

I prefer A, colors are natural, it could use a little noise reduction.
