That turned out great, and you got the prop stopped in all three at the same place. LOL I wish I would have known about HDR when I went to an Air Museum here. My brother was in front of an SR-71 that he had worked on in the USAF. Picture was OK but HDR would have made it great.

Thanks Mike--Light is not conducive to taking good pics. HDR is the only way to go. I've tried it the other way.

Very nice! A good representation of the benefits of HDR. I have not been a fan of HDR but an old dog can learn new tricks and your example (and those shots of a few others) has changed my mind.

What a nice example of HDR in the style I like.. Subtle but really nice definition that shows off the aircraft.

Solely out of interest, have you ever tried using five pictures for the HDR image? -2, -1, 0 +1, +2

Really nice picture and thanks for sharing it

This is a pretty good result and clearly shows the benefits of HDR in circumstances like these. One concern is the wingtip in the top right hand corner which has suffered a little from the lighting but its a minor blemish. But I am confused about one thing though. In your description of the shot you wrote that it was three bracketed shots with shutter priority. HDR must always be done in aperture priority otherwise your three bracketed shots will have a different aperture for each shot in order to get the range of exposures. But that means that the depth of field will vary in each shot which results in less sharp images, a problem which gets worse the closer you are to the subject.

Hope this helps

Peter

glojo--no, my camera will only bracket 3 images in the bracket mode. I know that I can do more than 3 with it manually and some day I will push the envelope and do 5, 7, or 9 to see what difference it makes. Have not been shooting HDR that long.

Peter-- My mistake. These were shot in aperture priority mode. You are correct in the fact that I could have bracketed more images to correct the blown out area on the wing tip. As I have said before, lighting in the hangers is not great for taking good pictures but that is what HDR is for. Right!!!
