Setting Screen Resolution on MacBook Using iPhoto

I have a Macbook with 13" screen (diagonal) and am using iPhoto to download, view and work with most of my photos.
Available resolution options range from 640X480 to
1280X800.
The other day (and don't recall at which resolution setting) I got a message that said, in effect, "This is not the optimal resolution for iPhoto."
Didn't say what was. Easy answer? It depends? Any advice?
Thanks,
Rob

You want a screen resolution that corresponds to the aspect ratio of the screen. My 13.3" MacBook Pro is set to 1280 x 800 in the Displays preference setting in System Preferences. That should make iPhoto happy. Lower screen resolutions will blow up the image on screen, but give poorer viewing results. Some of the available resolutions will distort images.
