I'm taking a hard look at this item which ships August 1st. It is a Leica and it is affordable. It has a zoom, fits in the pocket and shoots RAW. What say you?
Respectfully, I was not impressed with this $1,095 re-badged version of the Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200/TZ200 (selling for $799 USD. I believe the Pany’s zoom range is both wider and longer, but the Leica may be faster.

As others have said, the new Leica C-Lux is a re-badged Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS200. Leica have done the same thing with several other pannie models. Sometimes the premium price is offset by additional bundled items like a longer warranty or a PS subscription. There is nothing wrong with paying extra
You should also look at the Pannie ZS100 which has a little less reach but many say it has better IQ than the ZS200/C-Lux and is $500 less. The red dot is nice, but for $500 I could fly to Paris for a long weekend.
Many thanks to all responders for your insights. I've put my wallet away, at least until my next GAS attack!

Affordable? You must have a pocket full of money. I have a panasonic lumix DC-ZS70 which will run you $400. It is about the same size as your Leica, and has about 124 different menus and a 24-720 Leica lens.
Even better, they’re closer to $300. Now
I preordered mine in the gold color and yes I have a Leica Bridge camera that takes beautiful photos --so these naysayers can say what they want I will keep my preorder

Thanks for your fearlessness! It is a pretty cool-looking camera, isn't it?
Nice-looking camera, but functionally it's no different from the Lumix ZS200, and the Lumix is a lot less expensive. Like one reveiw said, the Leica has two advantages over the Panasonic--it's 4 months newer and has a greater prestige factor. Nice, but I'll pass.
I don't know but perhaps the Leica and the Panasonic are not made in the same factory? As I found out about the Leica typ 109 and the Lumix LX100 while they are the same camera the LX100 is made in a Chinese factory while the Typ 109 is made in a Japanese factory. Of course the Lumix has a Japanese brand and the Leica has a German brand.

Yes. And no doubt Leica has been at the top of the heap for years, especially when they were actually mede in Germany. Still, it's a bit rich for my blood for that kind of camera.
