Using ICE photo stitching

I read on the ICE web site that ICE would stitch Raw .CR2 (Canon) files. When I attempted to use the .CR2 files it would not recognize the files as valid choices. Does anyone have any experience stitching Canon raw files with ICE and know any special techniques for having the program recognize them?

Thanks

Wayne

Why do you want to stitch uncorrected cr2 files? Work with processed TIFF or PSD files with in say Photohop. It stitches files well.

I'm sure the OP wants to stitch .RAW files because he feels he'll get the results he wants by doing it that way.
I think he's correct! I wish at this point that I used Canon so I could help rather than trying to show off.
FTR I stitch Nikon .nef files and output from ICE to my computer as .dng because it is a hell of a lot more efficient way to get the job done. Plus ICE gives more processing options than PS

Ice will stitch any raw - including .CR2 - IF and only IF the most recent CODECS have been loaded onto Windows. Check that you have the latest using the Canon web site or MS site.

I installed the latest CODECS version and still can not stitch .CRS files using ICE. Yes I rebooted machine after installation. It did install stuff that I did not want like Chrome explorer as a default bar at the top of my screen but know how to get rid of this irritation so can live with it for the time.

Thanks for the help.

Can you post a couple of .cr2? (Max size is 20MB per file).

Try These. They are two shots made for this test. West side of my place. They stitch in ICE in jpeg format.

Thanks for trying.

Wayne, I was able to stitch those with no problem, the whole process from down loading to finish took less than 5 min. For what its worth, I use current W10. Nothing special about my set up.

I am at windows 7 so that may be the issue. the CODEC was a 4.2.0 I believe so that may have also contributed. Thanks for your assistance in testing. Probably have to get an upgrade in computer to get the most mileage from the various aps.

I have ICE 2.0.3.0. It appears to be the latest.

It is.

So what is the issue? ICE does not care about windows version unless you are using a version that does not fit the OS. ICE comes as both 32 and 64 bit. If you have 32 and use 64 it will not work (and vice versa).

Are you able to see the raw thumbnails in Windows? Can you open the file with MS photo editor? (raw embedded JPG)

I do not know the issue(s). I have a 32 bit machine and 32 bit version of ICE. Yes I checked. As suggested I also installed the latest version of CODEC for 32 bit machines 4.2 I believe. I can see the jpeg thumbnails in Windows Photo viewer but not the raw files. Just a symbol with a file number assigned by the camera. I use a Corel product to edit the raw files and do not have any issues in bringing those up in that product. Will just continue to stitch using jpegs as it works acceptably well as I try to get things as close to correct in camera anyway. Some manipulation can still be made on jpegs after stitching. Not ideal but it works.

Thanks for your interest.

Wayne, if you do get this worked out, could you let us know what the solution was.
