You must check the "Store Original" checkbox.
scroll down below the message window.
click on "Choose File" and browse to find the image, double click the image to load it
check (store original) then "Add Attachment" and wait for it to finish loading - it can be slow at times
finally under the message window click "send" and wait, lately it gets error messages and I sometime have to try 2 or 3 times for it to process

You must do this BEFORE you click the Add Attachment.

Just FYI he asked how to send file to DOWNLOAD versus how to send a file. Must click "Store Original" first before clicking Add Attachment.

And if you read my post completely you will see that I just included all the steps and it clearly says
"check (store original) then "Add Attachment"

You are correct - missed it because you put other items in quotation marks and not the most important item. Sorry.

Sometimes UHH threads seem to qualify as "Theatre of the Absurd."

I figured quotation marks around brackets was a bit redundant.

It's an addiction for sure, but at least we're not alone

Sometimes??? In my short time here, I would say 99% of the time. And the #1 absurdity is many either do not read the questions or comprehend them or ego gets the best of them. Especially love when someone asks for a recommendation for a particular brand, has a price limit, certain type (ie, point & shoot) and the first answers start out 300-400% over budget or a brand the person owns that is not applicable. Or in this thread asking for just "Download" and getting the full manual instructions. Easy to overlook a point in answers not to the point. One of the reasons I always read your answer (and a maybe a dozen others), knowing they are correct, concise and covering question. And, then other times (like now) I just go for the absurd and glad I was part of it for you.

A picture is worth a 1000 words is it not? Hope this helps.

And my list of the complete steps for posting an image and making it downloadable harmed you or anyone else in what way?
I am a retired classroom teacher and standard practice is to write as if the reader knows nothing about the subject unless you absolutely know different. It may create a bit of extra reading for some but for others it provides all needed knowledge to understand the subject. Without having to go back and ask for more information. (What do you think of JD750's post which uses a screen shot to illustrate the entire proceedure.?)
The OP did not include an image which implied he may have forgotten how to do that, not just how to make one downloadable. And his history of posts shows a lot of queries about many basic things because of a long absence from using his photo/online skills and the UHH. (the site and the commands have changed over the years) Would you like to know how I know that? Or do you know how to find someone's posting history?
The OP has not complained, why are you? And yes, between 4 and 5 months on UHH is a short time to be setting yourself up in judgement of "99%" of the forum.
