Yeah, it's actually even more complicated tgan tgat, and it's kind of stupid, but it's the miliway of doing things and in fact it only affects a couple dozen people. This has nothing to do with the current administration, it's been working its way through the system.
It's f**e news but there are a few people who will be treated unfairly. I'm sure that's never happened in the military.

We promise immigrants a path to citizenship if they serve a certain amount of time honorably in the military. We've had many who do just that. Then, as in any group of people, there are those who just don't pass muster. They fail basic training, they don't show up for induction, they can't pass a security check, etc. So they are "excused" and have to take the long way to citizenship. Why this is an issue is only because the left want to paint a black eye on any possible subject.

I don't know, maybe it's a good idea for LEGAL immigrants to earn U.S. citizenship by serving in the U.S Armed forces for a predetermined time, sounds fair to me.
