Chickens in the middle of town? Yes it works, they are Buff Orpengtons, an heirloom breed. They just started laying!

Love the second and third images showing the eye in focus - nice & sharp.
Very nice looking breed of hens.

They look very FOWL to me, but I've been known to be PLUCKED up a time or two, or three, or four, or five.

In that case, the yolk's on me. I don't want to egg you on, but from the expression on the last one's face, it looks like it may be ready to give me the 'bird'.

But back to the original post. I'm not familiar with that breed, but they're nice looking chickens. Are they known for their laying ability or for their taste as a chicken dinner? As a kid, we had Rhode Island Reds, White Leghorns, a few Plymoth Rocks, and Game. The Game roosters were sometimes purchased for....... unknown reasons......

These birds are actually pretty and they look intelligent (even though they probably aren't).

Thank you for looking, they are known for egg laying, and a very nice and quiet breed. Not in danger of being extinct, but a rare heritage breed. They are still quite young, and just starting to lay for us. They are funny, they follow me around the fence.

Thank you Kimbee. They are beautiful birds, and very good natured. They do seem intelligent, i dont have any other to compare them too, but they really try to figure things out. Like how to get the fence wider to get out.
