Osprey nesting box

Took these images a couple of weeks ago in the Robinson Preserve in Bradenton, Fl.
I am estimating that the poles are 30' to 40' high. The female lays 2 to 4 eggs and they take about 35 days to hatch. They usually mate for life. Planning on going back in a week or two to see if we have any young chicks.

Looking the download for #2, they are definitely aware that you are there. Talk about a piercing stare.

Wonderful set, Don and excellent shot of the proud parents!!!
I know they mate for life, that's why this year was so upsetting when Gracie didn't return, but thankfully George found a new mate and now 3 eggs later.
Hopefully your osprey didn't have more than 3 eggs... a lot of the time the runt doesn't make it because the two older siblings pick on them, especially if the fish doesn't come in regularly.

Keep us posted!

The one on the left is a parent. The one on the right is a juvenile, you may be too late. They will usually have eggs in the nest by early to mid April. Theyoung grow fast. The young one must be just starting to fly. Bill PS. The one on the left has an eye problem
