This was taken 11 July 2017 along US-19 north of Inglis. Fl.
With Nikon Df and AF Nikkor 35mm f/2D
It was sitting in a field as you see in the picture, the grass was freshly mowed, the nearest building looked abandoned.

Hear that lonesome whistle whine,
Alabama, Caroline,
Florida, Georgia, Tennessee
The hobo's life is the life for me,
Ridin' the Atlantic Coastal Line...
Ridin' the Atlantic Coastal Li-ine
Everybody loves trains... who hasn't, late in the dark, heard a train whistle and wondered where it was going... who was on it, what were they doing and could I come too?
Nice thought provoking photo, Mac!

Thanks Fuminous.
I grew up on the Ohio River in Pittsburgh in the 1950s and '60s. In those days thehe sounds of trains running along side the river and tugs moving barges on the river were always present. At night in the summer with the windows open they sang me to sleep.

Nice.

I always wanted a caboose to use as a study in my back yard. When I had an opportunity to get one for almost nothing when the railroads quit using them, I almost jumped at the opportunity. Then I learned that it would cost umpteen thousand dollars to have it transported from the railroad to my home. Dream quashed. But I still admire them.
