Always interesting to watch trains pass through the city. Several times a week long ones (around a 100 car count) go through with three and four locomotives. The three engine configurations are most always combined at the front with the four engine configurations sometimes having two at front and two at the rear. Also some flat car units are three bed configurations.
The photo shows a three engine train passing on one of the longer viewed lengths of track pulling about a hundred hopper cars used to transport cement from the queries around San Antonio.

Tommy, please choose "Store Original" when you post. The thumbnail is so small, it is hard to appreciate the trains.

I thought about posting the original but since the train was across town it was sort of fuzzy. There are two more openings in the cityscape where the train can be seen that are much closer. Only problem is I’m not able to easily tell when they will appear.
The space shown here is several blocks down the tracks from a street grade crossing where the engineer gives out two long, one short and then another long blast on the horn alerting me of the opportunity to photograph it.
I’ll try to collect another shot or so.

And there is one "backward" engine, for the reverse gear.
