Almost every day driving home I take the backroads. This tunnel is in a not so great part of town near a homeless encampment. I have wanted to stop and shoot it many times but didn’t until today. I was going to shoot it in RAW but couldn’t figure out how to change my camera and I wasn’t in a good place to stop and research however, this is the idea I had in mind after a little “playful pp”.

Downloads, tinkering and comments welcome.

Dang, that is good.
The under/over exposed parts, ambiguity, no solid subject combined with a solid composition, patterns and path for my eye to follow really combine to make this work.

Edit: forgot to mention “subtext”, one of the vehicles that writers, lyricists and others use to let the “viewer” place their own emotions on the shot. You really nailed this here.

Also, you have a wall hanger here IMHO.

Thank you! I have been planning this shot for a long time in my head. I have just been too afraid to stop. I was nervous about my surroundings and I fumbled more than I liked but in the end with help of LR and all the great advise I have gotten from FYC I really feel like it is what I saw in my head. Happy Dance!

The tunnel is the subject.

Just a slight crop that feels a little more balanced to me. Cut the highlights a little. Good that you finally stopped!

Highly effective composition and pp. BassmanBruce has described perfectly and fergmark's slight trim is a positive IMO. Inspiring work, Keni!

I like what you did. You are right the highlights were overdone. Thank you for your input.

Rebel T6? I like having a pdf copy of user manual on my computer to easily find something via ctrl+F and key words:

http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/8/0300022698/01/eos-rebelt6-1300d-im-en.pdf

Is it a touch screen? Page 28 shows where you'll see it.

I do have the manual downloaded thank you. Waiting on the coffee to kick in. For some reason my eyes seem work better after about 16 oz.

Getting to raw or any other mode requires knowing your camera. Like many others I do not use all functions on my camera. Try to figure out which functions will be most important to you then sit down and manipulate the controls until it is easy to switch from one mode to another. Using a camera is like any other skill set it takes practice. Trying to figure it out in the field, no manner the environment, may not be the best approach.

Keep up the good work.

This capture makes you think! This shot is a great example of thought and planning going in and the result you wanted coming out.

Excellent and thought provoking! And best of all, unusual!
