Aside from the usual planned activities e.g., watching the parade, fireworks, and BBQ grilling with family and friends, I also created a slideshow to celebrate our independence day. I would like to invite you to watch it. There is a little quiz (10 questions) in the end to see how much you know of the US Independence. (Try to answer them first before asking Prof. Google.) I tried to sum up 242 years of ups-and-downs events in 2 minutes. While doing this chore and with the current state of this (deeply divided) nation, I came to conclusion that tumultuous years are ahead for our country. I hope I'm wrong. I hope you enjoy the show. Here's the link:

Interesting, fast-paced summary and no question about the deeply divided country. Without getting into politics or society's ills, some of us believe the 2nd Civil War may have already began (although not for the same reasons).
As for the presentation my best recommendation would be to re-do it as a 3-minute slideshow. There is no value to add captions if not enough time to read half of them and I am a speed reader.
Happy Independence Day to you and all.

Thanks for your response and valuable comment. I will pull it down and re-do a 3-minute slideshow.
Thanks again. Happy 4th of July.
When I click on it I get a message that it has been removed .

nimbushopper, sorry about that. I took it down because the slideshow transition was too fast and people were having difficulty reading the text. Here's the updated link to the slideshow:

Hi, cambriaman. I took it down because the transition between slides was just too fast. Here's the link to the re-do of the slideshow in HD:

Hi EdR, sorry about the first post. I took it down because the transition between slides was just too fast. Stardust suggested to re-do with a longer transition so browsers can read the accompanying text. He was right. It looks much better. Here's the updated version of the slideshow in HD, 4 1/2 minutes. I hope you enjoy it. If you can think of an era in the US history that you feel should be mentioned even let me know. I plan to update in future. Thanks.

Great slideshow with appropriate music. I have done a number of video/slideshows through the years and would suggest you do not use the printed captions. If you must impart information beyond a 3 or four-word title, use voice-over. "Movavi" is a very good program which allows the mixing of background music with speech.

Thanks for watching and the tip re: Moravi. I will check it out. I have never done mixing music with speech. Part of it is because I have a naturally "harsh/irritating" voice and a thick accent. Yes, it does get cluttered with too many text info in one slide. Usually, I'll just add a one-liner text to describe the place or the action. At times, I'll add "Fast Facts" or an FYI about the place/scenery, etc. like an upward panning credit at the end of the show with none or soft music only. I think it helps keep the audience stay a little longer to find out what else you have to say. The human species is, by nature, a curious bunch. Of course, this is also with the premise that you've got them hooked by your opening slides/scenes and then decided it's worth their time to stay till the ending. This is just my 2-cent layman's opinion about the subject matter.
I will sure look into that. May be, I can ask a friend who has a "cool" voice to do the reading if for broad audience. Hey, thanks, again. Enjoy the rest of the 4th.

Hi Lemon Drop Kid,
I did check out "Moravi" as you suggested. It looks like pretty good photo/audio editor re: mixing of background music with speech (narration and voice-over). Then, it dawned on me to check the software program I am using for this purpose. (I have ProShow Producer by Photodex.) Well, lo and behold, it does. I have been using this program for the past couple years but not tried this function. I printed the instruction from the "Help" section. It does not appear too complicated. I will give it some practice runs.
If you don't mind me asking for your suggestion re: microphone to use? Appreciate your suggestion. I have been using above-mentioned software but not tried the mixing audio and speech. Again, thanks for your valuable tip re: this matter.
ProShow is also a good program. I have it as well. Unfortunately, the microphones I have are not the best, and are quite old. The one I use most is an Ambico Super Uni-Directional Electret Condenser. The other is a Realistic Cardioid Dynamic. I keep looking for something better at a price under $100, so if anyone here can offer suggestions, it would help us both.
